JOINING ME in this journey is...
DONALD PAGULONG
- A certified "houseband" who is an expert in doing all kinds of
household stuff... A liberal-minded father to three wonderful children: Karen Mae, Meryll Diane and Kevin Clint and a cool hubby to a beautiful wife, Rose Marie. An alumna
of FEATI University, graduated with a degree in BS Electronics and
Communications Engineering. Currently, a preacher at Glory to God Baptist
Church, Victoria, Laguna.
A blogger at night and a lover by day.
A blogger at night and a lover by day.
Also known as, Papaleng proudly claims that there's nothing special about his personality. He's just a simple man who contents himself with what he has. He believes in this Tagalog saying
"Kahit mahirap ka, basta totoo ka sa iba, mabubuhay ka".
Meaning... Even if you are poor, just be true to other people and you will live life decently. People may sometimes be judgmental but the kindness of heart is felt even without impressing others.
These particular biblical principles guide him in his journey through life... That humanity needs to keep motives right, for God looks at the heart.
"All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord." - Proverbs 16:2
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." - Hebrew 11:1
He simply loves being with his family because they are his precious gems. He showers them with his utmost tender loving care. He even dismissed the idea of accepting any overseas job opportunity like in Singapore, Australia and Japan. He has NO REGRETS whatsoever in turning those down because he wants to be with his family 24 hours a day 7 days a week. He never wanted to be away... not witnessing every little step that his children take while growing up and never wished to depart from his wife... not offering her his warm intimate attention.
Papaleng with his beloved wife and children |
Pagulong's New Year's Eve, 2012 |
Meet PAKOY... the heir to the throne |
According to him...
"Being a "bread winner" is just 50% of your responsibilities, the other half is to spend quality time with your children. Remember, financial stability will always be at hand but embedding good morals and virtues into your children's heart is the most significant part of being a RESPONSIBLE father."
I've learned that one of Papaleng's passion is writing poems so, I made one exclusively for him entitled... Uniquely, PAPALENG
There’s this humble man named DONALD
He’s no Disney character
Nor a billion-dollar estate developer
But the ruler of his house and its every corner.
He’s fondly called “Papaleng”
"PAPA" which means father
Who’s always available anytime, anywhere
Just call his name and he’ll come rushing over.
Lechon Kawali is his favourite dish
The crispy “balat” makes his mouth water
But don’t serve it with beer on the side
His blood pressure may shoot up... so beware!
Light Blue is his favourite color
Like a bright morning in a summer sky
It symbolizes trust, wisdom and loyalty
Intelligence, calmness and tranquillity.
“Meet Joe Black” is his fave movie
It starred Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins
I wonder where he got his son’s name, Kevin Clint
I guess I have to ask him ‘coz I have no hint.
There are three lovely ladies in Papaleng's life
Karen Mae, Meryll Dianne and his most beloved wife
Because of these women, he is contented
Because of Rose Marie... he's committed.
"LENG" is the last four letters
of a term of endearment,
DARLING
dropped the "I" and replaced with "E"
Now, it's clear to you how he got his name...
PAPA plus LENG is
Now I know where the name Papaleng came from.Always wanted to ask him that but never got the chance.I have to say Marri that sharing the stories of fellow bloggers is really a nice idea. Keep them coming.
ReplyDeleteIt feels good to know that people in authority like you, Ms Teresa give me such kind remarks. I'm glad you consider it a nice idea. I have a long list of personality in mind and you are included. :)
DeleteI have always found it very interesting to know the person behind the name. Do you already have one featuring yourself?
DeleteOh and thanks for considering me an "authority" and hope to live by the expectation.
I'm so speechless. buti na lang I still can type some words. LOL Thanks Marri for this very wonderful and entertaining post. Nakakataba ng puso (it makes the heart obese)...
ReplyDeleteYour being simple and unique person made this post an interesting read. You're living your life SIMPLY and you never let COMPLEXITY overrule you as a person.
DeleteIt's always my pleasure Sir Donald :)
I am wowed! I've met Papaleng in the flesh once and I'd say, once is not enough to see right through him but being with him for a few hours was remarkable. He is a person you would want to be with and whenever you're with him, you'll forget life's letdowns. I have learned from his daughter KM that it was her who called him "Papaleng". Pinauso kumbaga, hihihi! Two thumbs up to you, Papaleng. Keep your feet always planted on the ground. I consider you my second Dad, hihihi!
ReplyDeleteHands down to this beautiful article. Keep them coming!
LAINY'S MUSINGS
Touch naman ako Lainy, it is ap rivilege on my part to have met a lovely and witty lady like you. Wow! nadagdagan na naman ang anak ko. :)
DeleteNo stir, Papaleng. I am more honored to have met you. Next EB natin, papaburger ka ha? Hihihi!
DeleteComing back here for FBF's COMEX
A SOJOURNER'S SAGA
The truth is... I've never met PAPALENG in person, Ms Lainy but there are people who possess such pleasing character like him who demonstrates kindness only through his words and how he treats online acquaintances. In this blogosphere world, we just know each other by name and it's hard to determine genuine goodness and purity of heart.
DeleteIt's no different when you put a face behind the blogs. The blogs are indeed a replica of the blogger. So what you see is what you get, ika nga. That's the case with Papaleng as well ;-) Sobrang groovy and cool.
DeleteI suspected all of this for the years I have known you online. You are an endearing man of God. Family comes first to you. Always kind and always truthful. This is deeply embedded in your heart .
ReplyDeleteWow! Such kind words will truly melt Sir Donald's heart. He is indeed a man who deserves to be acknowledged and praised by colleagues online or not.
DeleteYou are a man of God. Full of the truth with a beautiful family. Thank you for being such a wonderful friend.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Papaleng's face turned blushing red when he read this. :)
DeleteThanks Angela, I am also so blessed to have a friend like you.
ReplyDeleteMy apo sitting besides me had whispered to my ears.. "Papaleng, artista ka na pala, pwede ka na partner ni -Heart'. LOL
ReplyDelete"Being a "bread winner" is just 50% of your responsibilities, the other half is to spend quality time with your children. Remember, financial stability will always be at hand but embedding good morals and virtues into your children's heart is the most significant part of being a RESPONSIBLE father." -- this quote struck me as a parent i can relate with Papaleng's point of view..and I am a little bit surprise with this post as it is all about papaleng pala... and with those revealations i've learned about many things about him that he don't openly divulge.. hehe Indeed a responsible and very loving Papaleng.. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm just lucky to have his approval to publish some significant details in his personal life and share them publicly inspite of him being low profile.
Deletesuch a sweet post for papaleng. blessed is the man who takes his family as the topmost priority. it is really what makes a man.
ReplyDeletePapaleng is not only a responsible father but a great provider of immaterial wealth, that is... his PRICELESS gift of loving and caring for his family.
DeleteNow I see where these letters came from. It's a perfect name for a perfect father and husband.
ReplyDeleteExactly! Papaleng is one word that means an "endearing father" and that name perfectly defines the true person he is.
DeleteOne sentence and a huge smile...."I AM A FAN OF PAPALENG!" :)
ReplyDeleteYou should be the president of his fan's club. LOL!!!
DeleteI AM A FAN OF PAPALENG! :).....and I don't think there is a need to elaborate....HE IS SIMPLY PERFECT....God bless you and your family always Papaleng! :)....this is such a beautiful, touching post...:)
ReplyDeletePapaleng... you're like a famous celeb with all these good write-ups!

ReplyDeleteLong live the REAL "Don Romantiko" !!!
DeleteIt's Papaleng who brought me to FBF, Ms Chubskulit Rose. I'm very thankful to him for bringing me in.
i feel so blessed to have known Papaleng, I am a big fan of his humility and dedication to what matters most in life. and an endearment "papaleng"coming from a daughter speaks highly of how loving a father he is. I am actually not only a fan of papaleng, but a fan of papaleng-KM father and daughter relationship. so happy to know these two through FBF and so glad to have joined FBF.
ReplyDeleteSir Donald's family is a perfect example of a closely-knit one. Love, respect, trust and obedience are only few of the traits that most described Pagulong's clan.
Deletepapaleng... my idol when it comes to fatherhood... i hope i can be as good as you po.. though i think i'm doing good as a parent. but iba talaga si papaleng.
ReplyDeletecheers to you po! :)
He's worth-emulating and the way he brings up his family... but every father has own means of being a good one. I believe, you're doing a great job on parenthood as well, Sir Ron.
DeleteBeing God-fearing and humble are few of adorable characteristic that I like most of this young dashing man. His words inspire me. His humors never fail to make me smile. I pray that he will continue to brighten our day with his amazing posts and thoughts.
ReplyDeleteHis blogs definitely rock! He has that writing technique only he can do. Anybody can plagiarize his works like what other unscrupulous individual had done to one of his blogs, but NOBODY can ever steal the man's mind.
DeletePapaleng is such an inspirational father at the same time a top notch blogger :) I admire him even knowing him for little time :) I love the first pix...he is so cute :) Beautiful family he has too :)

ReplyDeleteI have high respect for father's like Papaleng who never fails to set his family his utmost priority. Happiness and contentment mean being with his beloved ones.
DeleteI don't want to say that he is my IDOL because God doesn't like IDOLS..but one thing I know he is now a man of God and that's what makes him unique and one of a kind father and individual..such an inspiring post of a man I look up to :) God bless and thanks for sharing it with us :)
ReplyDeleteWe meet people everyday but we seldom get to know a person who has genuine kindness and offer true friendship.
DeleteBro Nz , thanks for the inspiring thoughts. Mataas din ang tingin ko sa iyo, for you too is a servant of God. Kailan ako pupunta ng Thailand?
ReplyDeletePapaleng really has this awesome character as a person. His family is so blessed to have him.
ReplyDeleteYou write very well Sis. Keep it coming :)
Thanks Ms Rovie! I'm just inspired with the real life stories of common people who don't have to be famous to be influential.
